I don't know that it's that we *haven't*, it's just that we haven't seen fit to keep many of our legends alive...
Either through death of the legend, or death of the carmaker.

The Panther Deville was created after the animated movie was made (1961 vs 1974) and in it they used an amalgamation of Rolls Royce, Packard, and Cadillacs from the 30s and 40s in the animated film. The Panther Deville followed the same basic idea.
I did a google search before posting for that very reason. Still, it doesn't mean that the Packard doesn't look a lot like the animated car.
